The goal of sustainable living is underway at Terra Madre Farm, which was started in 2009 by John & Joanna Bagnulo.
The Farm is off to a modest yet promising start with a young fruit orchard of 30 trees, 60 high bush blueberry bushes, a vegetable garden, guinea hens to control the tick population, chickens for eggs and a few turkeys. In addition to the new fruit and vegetable production Terra Madre Farm has 100 acres of sustainable forest.
With hopes to expand the garden area next year and obtain MOFGA certification (Maine Organic Farm & Garden Organization), they will be able to sell certified organic produce and eggs from their farm.
As well as the farm project, the Bagnulo’s are building a home and have two young boys.
